Justin Bieber's latest scent-package, "Girlfriend"
What a strange day: Despite the personnel of the Herald Square Macy's guaranteeing us that people started camping out around the block last night in preparation for the sale of Justin Bieber's new scent, Girlfriend, when we entered the store at 11:30 this morning, the kiosk was deserted.
"Oh yeah, it was crazy earlier… a mad rush," one perfumer told The Observer. "But you can still buy a bag if you want."
Curiouser and curiouser, especially because the Justin Bieber/Macy's goodie bag included not only the latest perfume that guarantees that you are the Biebs's girlfriend (scroll down for the scratch and sniff test to find out what Selena Gomez really smells like!), as well as his new CD, "Believe" (RBMG/Island), which won't be released until tomorrow, BUT, IN ADDITION, the first 500 recipients of the Justin Bieber fragrance at Macy's would get special VIP passes to the crooner's show at the Apollo tonight.
And there were still bags for grabs when we went into the eerie deserted apartment store before noon!
Justin, made of cardboard.
It can't be the price tag: The whole package goes for $168 (plus tax), and Bieber fans pay way more than that for nosebleed tickets. Perhaps that's it: The real Bieber maniacs have already acquired their tickets and are already camping out near the Apollo. And those few unlucky enough not to have parents that love them that much can always just wait in line, hoping that Scooter Braun will take pity on them and hand them front row seats. (Hey, it happened in Never Say Never, and if it was in 3D, you know it's reality!) Not to mention it's Mr. Braun's birthday.
Happy birthday, Justin Bieber's manager! We're glad Mrs. Bieber prayed on it and decided to trust "this Jewish kid" with her child's career.
As for the scent? As Velvet Roper editor Laura put it, "It smells like a department store." Hey, that's still an improvement on Sammi Sweetheart's stench!
