2012 was definitely a year for viral videos. Records were broken and there were songs that we just couldn’t get out of our heads no matter how hard we tried! The internet is an addicting place, and we’ve rounded up what we remember as the most memorable videos of 2012.
Starting off on what might be the most adorable thing we’ve seen this year, Duck Run is a simple video about a duckling named Charlie trying to keep up with his owner. Between the peeps and the waddles, we dare you to try and find a cuter video from this year.
What started as a contest to meet Justin Bieber became something all of its own. The JB Fanvideo became an online hit after Liana, a fan of the Biebs, gave us a funny, but creepy look at what she would be like if she was our girlfriend to the tune of “Boyfriend.” Since gaining fame on the internet, Liana has created more videos and helped raise awareness for charities and started some causes of her own.
Last month, a new video from the people who brought you Rebecca Black’s “Friday” took the internet by storm. Nicole Westbrook brought us “It’s Thanksgiving,” and the tune has been in our head ever since. It’s about time Thanksgiving had a song to call its own!
Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” took the music world by storm, and as a result, countless video parodies were made, but nothing can top our favorite. Not really a parody, but this amazing video stars Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Big Time Rush, Ashley Tisdale, and basically everybody! It’s hilarious to watch our stars just go wild – no choreography or rules, just an old fashioned great time!
This is it. Who didn’t see “Gangnam Style” being somewhere on the list? Holding the record as the first YouTube video to break 1 billion views, this is a sure sign the K-Pop is headed to the states in a huge way. So many videos parodied “Gangnam Style” as well, but there is nothing like the original.
