We literally can’t write the phrase ‘gave his hamster to a fan’ without shuddering. But anyway. Since Justin Bieber randomly gave his prized pet hamster, Pac, to a female fan after a singning in Atlanta, animal welfare charities all over the place have been up in arms.
Ooooh-errr Biebz, you better watch out. You could get red paint thrown over you by fanatics at any second. Animal lovers don’t take kindly to people giving their tiny defenceless pets away.
After a video was captured of Justin telling a fan "That's all you. You gotta take care of PAC,” to which she replies, "I will take care of him!", officials at the California Hamster Association (yep, that’s actually a thing), have insisted that the act which might have seemed like a kind gesture, was infact a cruel thing to do for his pet.
A spokesperson for the CHA told TMZ.com that "[Hamsters] often succumb quickly to illness and death when faced with sudden environmental change...The moment that hamster was handed off to a screaming girl in a harsh, frenzied environment was likely the moment it gazed at the short path to its doom."
Whilst this is all very serious, and we would actually quite like to know how Pac is doing, the fact that they said a hamster GAZED AT THE SHORT PATH TO ITS DOOM, is quite frankly amazing, and might be our favourite quote of all time.
