A Rockford man will face a bond hearing Monday after he was charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct when police found him hanging around a swim meet at Riverside Brookfield High School.

Lawrence E. Adamczyk, 49, told police that he took a train from Rockford to Brookfield on Saturday morning, intending to go to Brookfield Zoo and look for young boys to have sex with, according to a news release from Brookfield Police. But when he walked by Riverside Brookfield High School, he told police, he received a brain-wave message from recording artist Justin Bieber telling him to go to the school to see the kids there.

Adamczyk was confronted by security staff at the school about 9:45 a.m. in a hallway that was off-limits at the time of the swim meet, the release said.

When police arrived, they found Adamczyk, who had a duffel bag strapped across his chest, sitting in the bleachers and watching the swimming competition, the release said. When officers approached him and asked him what he was doing at the school, he initially told them that he had kids that were competing in the swimming event. When officers asked him for the names of his children, he paused and then refused to answer. After Adamczyk produced an ID that said he lived in Rockford, he was taken into custody. At the police station, officers determined that he should be evaluated by medical personnel and he was taken to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn. After an evaluation there, he was returned to police custody.

He told police that he had performed a sexual act while watching the boys swimming event, the release said. Adamczyk “made several other intensely sexual statements involving young boys to Riverside Police investigators that are simply too graphic to include in a public statement,” the release said.

“Mr. Adamczyk has several prior arrests including an indication on his current parole status that he had prior sex offenses,” Riverside Police Chief Thomas Weitzel said. “At the time of his arrest in Riverside, Mr. Adamczyk was on electronic monitoring and had been paroled in December 2012 for an arrest that took place in St. Charles, Illinois in July of 2011. In the St. Charles case he commited a sex act at a fitness center. He had also been arrested for similar crimes at a high school in Rockford, Illinois in 2009 and the Northern Illinois University Campus in 2005.”

Weitzel also said, “I cannot understand how this individual was not required to register as a sex offender. I ordered my personnel to contact the Illinois Department of Corrections and request his parole status be revoked due to this arrest in Riverside. At 7 p.m. on Saturday January 12, Mr. Adamczyk’s parole was revoked and the Riverside Police Department received a parole warrant authorizing them to place a no bond hold on” him.

Adamczyk had been paroled to a halfway house in the 1300 block of East 71st Place in Chicago, the release said. Before he was arrested in Riverside, Adamczyk told police he had been living on the street in Chicago.
