Paparazzo Death Even Gets Roger Ebert's Attention: 'Who Cares If ...

justin bieber roger ebert paparazzo death opinion

Everyone from Miley Cyrus to Neil Patrick Harris is giving their opinion on the death of Chris Guerra. Hot on the pursuit of Justin Bieber's car, the paparazzo lost his life following a fatal blow from an oncoming car as he tried to cross Sepulveda during a traffic stop.

We even dished some more of our own feelings on The Talk, offering opinion of Bieber himself, but now we've learned that even film critic Roger Ebert wants to chime in!

It began with a tweet:

And then he turned it into his own blog post, which includes such passages as:

"I cast no blame. To be a paparazzi is a occupation we recognize in our culture. The mass media has an insatiable appetite for fragments from the lives of celebrities. This is not new. Circa 1960, the photographer Ron Galella became as famous as some of his targets because no one was more determined to capture the moment."

"Looking at online news, I find that the tragic death of Chris Guerra has inspired yet another round of calls to put an end to the Paparazzi Culture. This round will be as meaningless as all the previous rounds. We create a market for celebrity photos, and the economy assures it will be supplied."

All very interesting points. We mean, we've even seen multiple celebrities buy tabloid magazines! The demand IS out there. And he's right. It IS very strong! We should know, LOL!

But that still doesn't mean there can't be compromise… or does it?
