While the term 'Photographer' is probably an overstatement, a man's hunt for photographs of Justin Bieber's car being stopped on the 405 freeway by California Highway Patrol ended tragically by the paparazzo being hit and killed by traffic.

Justin Bieber was not at the scene.

Bieber's Ferrari, being driven by a friend, was pulled over for a traffic stop and directed onto Sepulveda Boulevard near the Getty Center. The paparazzo stopped his car nearby, crossed the freeway off-ramp, took photographs and was struck while crossing back to his car.

Photographs of the teen sensation can rake in big money. Several sources in the world of Hollywood celebrity photographers, however, claim the victim was not known in their circles as a professional photographer.

"While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim," Bieber said in a statement.

"Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves."
