HipHollywood | Justin Bieber Apologizes For Racist Joke: “I Thought ...

Over the weekend, a video surfaced online of a young Justin Bieber sharing an incredibly racist joke while backstage at a promotional event.

In the video, the singer can be seen sitting on a couch in a room with a group of people, sharing some jokes. Unfortunately, the then 15-year-old took one jest a little too far … And now, the singer is apologizing.

“Why are black people afraid of chain saws?”

He answers: “Run n*****, n*****, n*****, n*****.”

After the video’s released, the singer, now 20, released a statement addressing his actions:

“As a young man, I didn’t understand the power of certain words and how they can hurt. I thought it was OK to repeat hurtful words and jokes, but didn’t realize at the time that it wasn’t funny and that in fact my actions were continuing the ignorance. I take my friendships with people of all cultures very seriously and I apologize for offending or hurting anyone with my childish and inexcusable mistake. I was a kid then and I am a man now who knows my responsibility to the world and to not make that mistake again.”

According to TMZ, they got the video four years, but decided not to run it because Bieber was too young and he was “immediately told his friends what he did was stupid.” The news outlet decided to put it out after a British pay site released it on Sunday.
