New York, NY, United States (4E) – Justin Bieber has opened up to Jimmy Fallon regarding the real reason behind his tears after he performed at the MTV Video Music Awards last Sunday.
The 21-year-old singer first joked that his junk was hurt because of the harness but revealed later on the real reason why he broke down in tears. He shared, “It was so overwhelming for me, everything—just the performance. I missed some cues, so I was a little disappointed at that, and just everyone and just their support. I was, honestly—let me breathe for a second—I just wasn’t expecting them to support me in the way they did. Last time I was at an awards show, I was booed.”
Bieber said that he worked so hard in his new album and has worked hard into becoming the man he wants to become. He said that he felt so judged all this time and wanted to win so badly. He added, “And I think that that was what was so special about the emotional moment at the end, that it was authentic. It was real. It was like I was really just wanting it so bad. I don’t know. I’m just ranting now.”
Fallon also talked to Bieber about his run-ins with the law in the past and the “Where Are U Now” crooner shared that what he did before was due to the fact that he had a bunch of knuckleheads surrounding him.
He pointed out that he went through a place of trying to figure things out and testing the waters. He even said that he was just always in the spotlight and the cameras were eager to catch all the moments that Bieber was in the bad light.
After Bieber’s lengthy statements, Fallon commended him and said that what makes a man is not how much you can fight but after you get knocked down, you can get up.
