Last night on American Idol, the Season 12 auditions began in New York. The show featured new judges Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban, along with returning judge Randy Jackson.
During the auditions, James Bae, a 15-year-old student from Long Island, performed Justin Bieber’s “One Less Lonely Girl.” After the performance, Minaj asked Bae if he had a girlfriend and he replied, “I’m single and I’m ready for you.” Despite the banter, all four judges gave him a “no” to Hollywood. Sales consultant Benjamin Gaisey arrived dressed in a red plastic suit and a wig. He sang “I’ll Make Love to You” and Urban stated, “This is not the right avenue for you,” and he was sent home.
Even though she first performed a Carrie Underwood song, Sarah Restuccio impressed the judges with her second performance of Minaj’s “Super Bass.” The judges all gave her a ticket to Hollywood. Receptionist Albert Chang from Queens, New York, performed “Phantom of the Opera.” Nicki said Albert’s range is better than Mariah’s, while Randy said, “Honestly it was terrible, but you’re not right for this.”
In the end, 41 singers made it through to Hollywood.
Britney Spears is on the verge of a $200 million payday. Very shortly, the singer will announce she’s signing a two-year engagement to perform at the The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. At the moment, that’s where Shania Twain makes her concert home. She also signed a two-year contract and started her Vegas performances late in 2012. Shania stunned the crowd opening night in a glittery catsuit. She’s remained coy at how much money she’s making in Vegas.
Jessica Biel is not a fan of Anne Hathaway. Biel reportedly considers Anne to be her nemesis. In Jess’ mind, she and Anne are direct competitors. Jess auditioned for Anne’s role in The Dark Knight Rises and Les Miserables, but she was turned down flat both times.
Lady Gaga wants to restore Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch. When Jackson died in 2009 the ranch fell into disrepair and it was sold to an investment group — but Jackson’s three children and mother Katherine still hold a share of it.Last December, Gaga bought 55 items at a sale of Michael Jackson memorabilia.
Did Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose already tie the knot? TMZ.com ran into Amber in Los Angeles earlier this week. The photographer gave Amber a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ice Cream Bar and in return, she told him, “My husband loves Ninja Turtles.”
Jenelle Evans of MTV’s Teen Mom 2 is pregnant again. Evans’ son Jace is currently living with her mother. This is her first child with her new husband Courtland Rogers.
The elusive Ms. Amanda Bynes has resurfaced once again. The former actress debuted a new Tumblr account and piercing on Monday.26-year-old Bynes snapped a picture of herself with bleach-blond hair, large dark sunglasses, and a piercing in her left cheek. The caption on the picture was just a smiley.
And finally…Shakira is now the latest celeb to show off her baby bump!! Meow!!
